At Carlisle Design, we emphasize local and original art as crucial finishing pieces, and even centerpieces, to the work we do. We are passionate about supporting the art communities locally and afar, building our client’s collection of pieces along the way.
The Value of Original Art
Julie was fortunate to have grown up surrounded by beautiful artwork painted by her grandmother. As a result, introducing original art into client projects always feels right! The Carlisle Design team has grown and so has the mission of sourcing original art in support of local talent along with a commitment to sustainability through sourcing vintage pieces.
We value establishing relationships with many incredible artists, locally and worldwide. Often, the thrill of the search takes our team to vintage shops, and auctions, and from time to time, a gem is found at a garage sale. We are captivated by art’s beauty and are always amazed as we learn about the artist, the inspiration, and the history behind the piece. However, finding art is just one-half of the journey. Seeing how handpicked pieces of art transform and make our clients’ spaces unique is always a beautiful finish to our projects. Art brings undeniable joy and is the design foreground that narrates your story.
Original Art as Strategy, Guided by Regional Art Experts
Art is often misunderstood as decoration. When approached thoughtfully, it becomes one of the most powerful tools in both commercial and residential design. As regional art experts, we believe art should never be an afterthought. We integrate original art into the design process from the very beginning— because art shapes how a space is experienced, remembered, and understood. For businesses, it reinforces brand and guest experience. For homeowners, it brings depth, authenticity, and personal meaning to a home.
Our Art Consultation & Curation Services
We provide art consultation and curation services for both commercial and residential clients, serving as trusted regional art experts throughout the process. Our services include:
Art consultation for businesses and homeowners
Curating original artwork aligned with brand or personal identity
Sourcing and supporting regional and independent artists
Artwork placement, scale, and lighting coordination
Long-term art collection planning
Whether for a restaurant, medical office, workplace, or private residence, we help clients build meaningful collections that elevate both space and experience.
Why Original Art Matters to Design
Original art does more than fill walls. It communicates values, creates connection, and establishes a sense of place.
In commercial environments— such as restaurants, physician offices, and workplaces— curated art influences how guests, clients, and employees feel the moment they enter. It can soften clinical settings, create warmth in hospitality spaces, and reinforce culture in professional environments.
In residential design, original art anchors a home in story rather than trend. It reflects individuality and supports a more intentional, long-term approach to living.
Art as Strategy, Not Decoration
We believe art belongs in every serious design plan and business plan. When art is considered early on, it informs decisions about scale, lighting, circulation, and materiality. This integrated approach results in spaces that feel cohesive, layered, and authentic.
As regional art experts, we work closely with artists, galleries, and clients to curate original artwork that aligns with both the space and its purpose. Rather than sourcing art at the end of a project, we guide collections that evolve thoughtfully— supporting artists while creating environments that stand apart from mass-produced design.
Designed with Intention,
Collected with Purpose
Original art creates distinction because it cannot be replicated. It resists the sameness of trend-driven design and replaces it with authenticity and longevity.
Art is not a finishing touch.
It is a strategic, meaningful layer— guided by regional expertise— that defines how a space shows who you are.
